My dear Deschamp [sic] -
Do send me a line to tell me that the things got off all right for Bruxelles - also any news you have of their safe arrival -
What about Galleries? Galerries? Galerries and Games? -
I have a letter from the Insurance [people?] [p. 2] Shall I send them the
cheqke cheque at once - or wait until I hear from you whether the Societé des XX mean to pay? -
I am getting tired of this place as you may well imagine -
Yours Always -
J McNeill Whistler

Has it been made all right about the Catalogue?
1. [21 January 1884]
The date is noted in another hand.
Written in another hand.
5. Hogarth Club
Club for artists and connoisseurs.
Mortimer Luddington Menpes (1860-1938), artist [more]. He was not elected at this date; see also JW's letter to him later in the spring conveying the news of a further failed election attempt (#10001). However Menpes was eventually elected to the Hogarth (see #10031).
JW sent a sketch of Paintings for exhibition (M.910) which was reproduced in the catalogue for the first exhibition of Les XX. He had also written to Deschamps on 17 January (#07911) requesting that the titles to his paintings be recorded precisely in the catalogue.
