Well then my dear Huish let us be gay!
We used to be - You know things were droll enough at one time in Bond Street - Suppose we try again - & if the browns are difficult let us take the orange! - Here are the patterns chosen - and here also the drawing -
You had better have the enlarged working drawing run up to scale at once and [p. 2] send it to me immediately that I may see how they have understood it -
I must have the long pennant though, and I will buy it after wards from the Board and hoist it in Paris! -
Private View Card - Excellent - I have rather lost the run of lists now a days! - but I daresay may think of a few -
In the sets from Paris, are there are any Wheelwrights and Chelsea? - & any "Maunders" - ?
2. Marcus Bourne Huish
Marcus Bourne Huish (1843 - d.1921), barrister, writer and art dealer, Director of the Fine Art Society [more]. JW's exhibition, Mr Whistler's Lithographs, The Fine Art Society, London, 1895 opened in December.

Menpes had been interviewed for the St James's Budget.
6. signed proofs
'signed ... Regis', '&' is written in the left margin, 'the Fifth ... each' in the top margin of p. 1; 'In the sets' to the end, in the left margin of p. 1, all at right angles to the main text.
Of the works mentioned by JW, 'Sunday Lyme Regis ... Maunders' Sunday, Lyme Regis (C.134), Fifth of November (C.133) and Maunder's Fish Shop, Chelsea (C.37) are lithographs and Wheelwright (K.233) is an etching. 'Chelsea' could have been one of a number of lithographs and etchings, perhaps Lindsey Row, Chelsea (C.23).
