Dear Mr Bing -

I have acceeded [sic] to the request of your client and signed the little picture - Pray say to him with my compliments, that I shall be glad to know into whose care goes "The Sloop[4]"? - and also it would be nice of him if he would write me a line promising to lend the picture one of these days [p. 2] for exhibition -

Green and Gold: The Sloop (YMSM 368). The identity of Bing's client is unknown. However, a ledger records that JW sold the picture to Bing on 19 May 1897 for £200 (see #13034).
