Cher Monsieur

Votre Caisse est arrivée, mais depuis deux jours, je ne puis en prendre livraison par suite d'une foule de difficultés avec la Douane française. Je pense avoir votre Caisse ce soir ou demain; Dès que je l'aurai, je vous l'enverrai, et vous ferai reprendre par la même occasion les pastels[2] &c. que vous me destinez.

Veuillez, cher Monsieur, recevoir l'assurance de mes meilleurs sentiments.

Dear Sir

Your Box has arrived, but for two days, I have not been able to take delivery because of a number of difficulties with the French Customs. I hope to have your Box this evening or tomorrow; As soon as I have it, I will send it to you, and at the same time I will return the pastels etc. which you have addressed to me.
