Dear Mr Reid -

Enclosed I send a line just received from Mr Heinemann[4] - His description of the pictures is reckless as you will see from the fact of his mixing up Lady Meux![5] with the lot - still I thought you might know if there is any foundation for his report of the state of the frames? [p. 2] Apparently the pictures are devilish well hung - anyhow! - so thats all right -

I shall write to Mr Ives[6] - and you might make some enquiry as to the care taken of works of Art loaned to the place!

They must be responsible - Were the frames all right when they left? And the varnishing? -

Upon the whole I fancy Heinemanns account rather a wild one -

You had better send me back his letter - I shall send it on to Ives -

When do [you] come over? - not yet awhile? -
