Dear Mr Reid -
Enclosed I send a line just received from Mr Heinemann - His description of the pictures is reckless as you will see from the fact of his mixing up Lady Meux! with the lot - still I thought you might know if there is any foundation for his report of the state of the frames? [p. 2] Apparently the pictures are devilish well hung - anyhow! - so thats all right -
I shall write to Mr Ives - and you might make some enquiry as to the care taken of works of Art loaned to the place!
They must be responsible - Were the frames all right when they left? And the varnishing? -
Upon the whole I fancy Heinemanns account rather a wild one -
You had better send me back his letter - I shall send it on to Ives -
When do [you] come over? - not yet awhile? -
J McN Whistler
