My dear Willie -

I must send you the book[3] - You can keep it for a day or two - and then send it back -

I wish you would make any extract you think worth while - for you will be better able to look into the thing than [p. 2] I have been - I was only pleased to see that in some way our connection with the Country was after all Virginian - and, as I told Sis[4], Lowell[5] has to take a back seat after all!

Look it up a bit - and let us know - And do get out of this cold country!

Isn't it awful! -

I am glad though you are so much better - and feeling so strong again - I also am I fancy not doing so badly in spite of this horrid place!

[I] should like immensely to hear a[bo]ut the 14th century Whistlers[6]!

Always affectionately

Jim
