PRINCE'S SKATING CLUB,
KNIGHTSBRIDGE, S. W.
The Exhibition of International Art.
Dear Mr Whistler
On behalf of the Council I have to convey to you its warm appreciation of, and thanks for, your action in accepting the Chairmanship.
J McNeil Whistler Eq.
Pennell will be approached immediately.
There is some out cry being made [p. 2] about the thinning down of the Exc[u]t[ive] Council, and about the Scotch character it consequently assumes : do you not think it would be politic to add others with Pennell? Would J. J. Shannon be too severe a sacrifice to policy? - I know J. J. S is most loyal to you I hear privately that he would accept if asked. There are of course others more sympathetic T. Austen Browne [sic]. Harrington Mann, T Stirling Lee (and we have no sculptor now), Frank Brangwyn, H Muhrman [sic], and Peppercorn. And W. Strang - I had forgotten him.
Jef Lambeaux and J Dillens have come on the list of Honorary Members now.
I wonder Why Helleu, Fremiet, Begas, Degas, Moreau, Fantin Latour, Duran, and Pradilla, have not answered!
Carrière has wired (perhaps I told you) that he will be unable to exhibit.
Do you know Rolsholven, and do you think he should be invited?
Horace W. Page is the business man here at present - Admiral Maxses man - and we have kept him on, as he is a good official and the Admiral wanted it.
The Admiral is in Paris now and says he will see you.
