1. [15/17 July 1892]
Although this was presumably intended to be sent in April, it was not sent until July, and has been dated by the receipt on 18 July 1892.
3. QUEEN MARGARET COLLEGE
Queen Margaret College, Glasgow was established in 1883 through the incorporation of the Association for the Higher Education of Women with an endowment of £25,000. The College became part of the University of Glasgow in 1895, following a decision in 1892 to admit women to the University (Begg, T., The Excellent Women: the Origins and History of Queen Margaret College, Edinburgh 1994). Mary Newton Mann had undertaken to raise 400 guineas for an endowment fund (possibly for the recently founded women's medical school). The album was of watercolour and black and white 'sketches' (see M. N. Mann to JW, #03987, #03988).
