O.K! my dear

Your letters[4] have been delightful! but I cannot understand about Hamburg -

I have always been told it is a most picturesque place - almost, in its canals, a sort of Northern Venice - and here you say it is absurd and ugly -           Well - this place has, I believe, done me great good - but there is nothing to paint! and so I am getting awfully fidgetty [sic]!

[p. 2] In a few days doubtless I shall get away - I mean run across - I wanted to go to Holland - Dortrecht - where much may be done -

Ludovici[5] is there - and his class of pupils I believe with him! À propos of pupils I have had the "indentures" made out! and the "Apprentice[6]" bound over for five years! - What do you think of that! - and this is only the beginning

A wonderful document was the parchment, with signs & seals       quite mediaeval! -

Miss Hensman[7] I gave your parcel of proofs which I had put the Butterflies upon      And then there comes somebody from the other Gutekunst[8] asking for them - bringing a card from you! -

However they remain down stairs in Miss Hensmans care -

In great haste this is! -

Always, O K.
