I am told that you have acquired the two paintings[3] of mine that were offered at the Howell sale[4] the other day -

Also I hear that they are not the only works by me that you have cared to purchase! This being the case, you will perhaps pardon [p. 2] my curiosity to see them hanging upon your walls - and my desire to know the collector who so far ventures to brave popular prejudice in this country -

May I come and see your gallery? and if so, when would it be convenient to you to show me your pictures?
