My dear Nellie -

I was so pleased to get my dear Sister's nice little letter[2] to me - But now you must get this to her with the enclosed cutting, which will tell her what she very properly wished to know - that is the reason for my sudden coruscations in the Morning Post[3]! -

I shall probably [p. 2] leave here for London by the end of this week - and will come and ask you for all news! -

Always

Notes:

1.  Helen Euphrosyne Whistler
Helen ('Nellie') Euphrosyne Whistler (1849-1917), née Ellen Ionides, JW's sister-in-law [more].

2.  ALS
Written on mourning stationery. The second address on the envelope is written in another hand.

3.  Sister's nice little letter
Deborah ('Debo' or 'Sis') Delano Haden (1825-1908), née Whistler, JW's half-sister [more]. The letter is untraced. JW was recovering in The Hague from a serious bout of illness and did not return London until early September (see JW to H. Whistler, #06750).

4.  Morning Post
On 3 August, JW wrote to the Morning Post to contradict a report on his recent illness (see Whistler, James McNeill, 'Latest Bulletin From Mr. Whistler,' The Morning Post, 6 August 1902; Whistler, James McNeill, [Telegram From the Hague], The Morning Post, 8 August 1902; #09458 #07893).
