Mr. James McNeil [sic] Whistler,
No. 21 Cheyne Row,
Chelsea, London,
England.

My dear Sir:

I enclose you herewith the invitation[3] which the Committee on a Congress of Artists desired me to forward to you sometime ago. I greatly regret that it was returned on account of not finding your address in Paris. The Committee has expressed to me a desire that you should be again invited to give a lecture before the Congress of Artists of the World's Fair. I therefore re-enclose you what I sent you before, but I wish to add, that if you prefer any other topic to those suggested in the schedule, it is at your own choice.

Will you kindly advise me whether it will be possible for you to be here the first week of August and give us a lecture upon Art.

Very truly yours,

Walter C. Larned

Chairman of the Committee on Congresses of Artists -
