THE WHIRLWIND,
A LIVELY AND ECCENTRIC NEWSPAPER
[image of a girl in a whirlwind]
THE ORGAN OF THE HON. STUART ERSKINE[2], AND MR. HERBERT VIVIAN.

14 October 1890.

9 Down Street
London, W. C.

My dear Mr. Whistler.

I was rather shocked when I heard that tiresome Starr[3] had taken my cheques to you - I definitely told him not to & only gave them him on the understanding that I should not [p. 2] be responsible if they weren't met.

I have seen the Erskine's old family Solicitors & they are going to write to you & explain that the money is safe. But I am afraid the cheques wont be met tomorrow if they are presented. I am most annoyed with Starr for letting me us in like this & really hope you won't be inconvenienced -

yrs entirely
