3. Statesman & Decorator
Labouchère was a Member of Parliament, and was apparently decorating his new house.
Constance MacDonald Gilchrist (1865-1946), dancer and actress, later Countess of Orkney [more]. J. E. Blanche recorded seeing Harmony in Yellow and Gold: The Gold Girl - Connie Gilchrist (YMSM 190) in JW's studio in 1884 (Blanche, Jacques-Emile, 'James McNeill Whistler,' Renaissance Latine, June 1905, pp. 353-78, p. 358). JW was not satisfied with it and it was only returned to Labouchère after JW's death (see YMSM 190).
