Minutes of the Second Council Meeting
Held Feb 7th 1898
Those present were: -
Mr Alfred Gilbert (who occupied the chair)
Mr Arthur Melville

The minutes of the previous Meeting were duly read and confirmed by the chairman
A letter was read from Mr F. A. Walton explaining his unavoidable absence & the Honorary Sec[retary] announced letters of acceptance of Honorary Membership of the society from Aman Jaen [sic] Segantini, Rodin, Thaulow, Alexander[,] Franz Stuck, Besnard, Meunier, Klinger Blanche Costa, & Liebermann
The Agenda was read & the following items passed. that, circumstances permitting the Press & Private view days be on the 6th & 7th of May, and the opening day on the Monday following
That the Hony Sec be empowered to further communicate with Hony Members of the Council respecting their intended exhibits.
That the number of Exhibits allowed to none members be placed at two
[p. 2] That the following artists be invited to become Hon Members of the Council in addition to the exhisting list viz: Fremiet Carolus, Duran, St Gaudens, Begas, Dillens, & Lambeaux,
draught draft announcement to the press was passed with the addition of the Clause pointing out that exhibits will be mingled irrespective of nationality
The rest of the Agenda relating to the general rules of exhibition was held over for the consideration of the next council meeting authorized to be called at Feb 11th at 6 o clock.
