LONDON, Nov 20 1888

TO J McN Whistler Esq

Dear Mr Whistler

In accordance with my promise I enclose the a/c of the 5 pictures[2] - Altho we received 10% Interest from Mr Howell[3] - yet we have only charged you 5% and that only simple interest - for we might have charged each year the interest [p. 2] on the interest - So you will see that we have been very easy and moderate in the matter - of course as soon as ever you have paid all up then our claim of sharing the profit on the Carlyle comes to an end - My father[4] will be glad to receive the promised 100£ as soon as possible - it will keep him amiable -

I remain
Yours faithfully
