My dear [copy of a butterfly signature]
"The boy" has been, I have seen, and am conquered! - Not only am I amazed and delighted with [p. 2] his work, but his individuality has charmed me -. I look forward to lunching with you on Sunday, - for the invitation thanks - and to the talk we shall have, about my new found friend.
P. S. I should have written last night but I only knew your address to write it today.

Edward Godwin (b. 1876), son of Beatrix and E. W. Godwin; JW's step-son [more]; he studied sculpture under Gilbert. His mother died on 10 May 1896; both she and JW must have wished urgently to settle Edward's future.
