J'ai reçu avec un vif contentement, la ratification officielle de la décision du Gouvernement, au sujet de la glorieuse destinée de mon tableau[2] - et je viens aujourdhui vous remercier pour la gracieuse expression de sympathie, si flatteuse, avec laquelle vous me l'avez fait savoir.

Croyez que l'honneur de prendre place, dans la belle Collection de l'Etat, est, pour moi, bien sensiblement accentué par la bienveillante courtoisie de votre personnelle démonstration à mon égard - et je tiens vous exprimer hautement içi, Monsieur le Ministre, ma respectueuse gratitude pour ce distingué privilege. -

Veuillez agréer, Monsieur le Ministre, l'assurance de ma plus haute considération.
