My dear Whistler.
The Exhibition is progressing very nicely & it looks as if it would be a success financially as well as artistically. The weather has been beastly & I am a martyr to lumbago which has kept me in the house & I suspect deterred a good many people from coming (I [p. 2] mean the weather not my lumbago -[)]
We are sending on a first order to Way as per agreement. It contains a series bought by Mr Frank Harris which he requires at once as he's going abroad & he also wants signing in full - We told him we doubted your doing it but he said he was sure you would do it for him - Perhaps it will be as well to make friends with the mammon of unrighteousness which the Saturday certainly is.
They gave me the most awful slating a few months ago (see the enclosed tract) The two articles were written [p. 3] by Ernest Hart because foresooth - I wouldn't have an Exhibition of his wifes drawings here - at least that is the only reason I can assign -
But I return to the lithographs. Those required by Harris are
8. The long Gallery at the Louvre
16 The Dancing Girl
31 The Steps Luxembourg Gardens
43 The Canal Vitre
63 Mother & Child
70 Guincamp. Yellow House
I am waiting to do the [p. 4] brown paper edition of the catalogue until I get your monogram which you said you would send - Perhaps you have a block.

Mr Whistler's Lithographs, The Fine Art Society, London, 1895, opened on 7 December.
5. in full
6. Ernest Hart
Possibly Ernest Abraham Hart (b. ca 1836), writer and collector.
Possibly Alice M. Hart (b. ca 1848), wife of Ernest A. Hart.
8. Yellow House
The lithographs on Huish's list are The Long Gallery, Louvre (C.86), Nocturne (C.8); The Dancing Girl (C.29); The Steps, Luxembourg (C.68); Limehouse (C.7); Vitré: The Canal (C.63); Mother and Child, No. 1 (C.51) (or possibly Mother and Child, No. 3 (C.52), Mother and Child, No. 2 (C.53) or Mother and Child, No. 4 (C.54); and probably Yellow House, Lannion (C.67). The latter may have been drawn at Guincamp on the Cotes-d'Armor in Brittany, rather than Lannion.
