The Twenty second day of March in the year of Our Lord One thousand eight hundred and seventy three

Middlesex, to wit, Fanny Marks[4] the wife of Edward Mansfield Marks Executrix of the last Will and Testament of William Robert Markwell[5] deceased by Edmund Francis Davis her Attorney sues - James Abbott McNeill Whistler in the Writ of Summons called - G. [sic] A. M Whistler[6] for money payable by the Defendant to the said William Robert Markwell for Goods sold and delivered by the said William Robert Markwell to the Defendant and for work and labor done and materials provided by the said William Robert Markwell for the said Defendant at his request and for money paid by the said William Robert Markwell for the said Defendant at his request and for Interest upon and for the forebearance [sic] at Interest by the said William Robert Markwell to the Defendant at his request of monies due and owing from the Defendant to the said William Robert Markwell and for money found to be due from the Defendant to the said William Robert Markwell on accounts stated between them. And the plaintiff as such Executrix as aforesaid claims One hundred pounds.
