Notes:

1.  Marcus Bourne Huish
Marcus Bourne Huish (1843 - d.1921), barrister, writer and art dealer, Director of the Fine Art Society [more].

2.  It cant be helped
This may refer to a planned exhibition of small works, 'Notes' - 'Harmonies' - 'Nocturnes', Messrs Dowdeswell, London, 1884.

3.  Kitchen
The Kitchen (K.24a) is the only one of JW's etchings to have been published twice. It was printed in its second state by Auguste Delâtre for Twelve Etchings from Nature, 1858 (the 'French Set', K.9-11, 13-17, 19, 21, 22, 24). (excat 3). It was then published by the Fine Art Society in 1884, in its third state, with slight modifications of detail, printing and presentation. Printed in brown ink, trimmed to the platemark, with a tiny tab for the butterfly signature, it conformed to the appearance of Mr Whistler's Etchings of Venice, 1880 (the first 'Venice Set') (K. 183-189, 191-195). (excat 5), published by the FAS in 1880.
