Identity:
Frédéric Villot was a painter, etcher, scholar and conservator of paintings at the Musée du Louvre from 1848-1861.
Life:
He published a catalogue of its collections in 1849. He was a friend of Delacroix who painted a portrait of him in about 1832 (oil on canvas; National Gallery, Prague).
In about 1867, JW seems to have asked Fantin-Latour to give Villot an etching (#08047).
