Joseph Nash, a marine and landscape painter and illustrator, was the son of the better-known Joseph Nash (1808-1878).

Life:

Nash worked in London from 1859, in his later years in Bedford Park. He exhibited at Birmingham, Glasogw Institute of the Fine Arts, Liverpool Art Exhibition, Manchester Art Exhibition, Royal Academy, Royal Hibernian Academy and Royal Institute of Oil Painters. He illustrated G. A. Henty's The Dash for Khartoum (1892), and contributed to The Graphic from 1872 until 1902. Nash was a member and later Chairman of the Society of Illustrators which invited JW to become its Vice-President in 1894. He was elected a member of Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours in 1886.
