John Henry Lorimer was a portrait, figure, landscape and flower painter. He was brother of the architect Sir Robert Lorimer.
Lorimer studied at the Royal Scottish Academy schools and at Edinburgh University and later exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy, the Royal Society of Painters in Watercolours, the Royal Society of Portrait Painters and the Royal Academy amongst others. He was invited to exhibit with the International Society of Sculptors, Painters and Gravers when JW was President during the late 1890s.
