William Bateman Fagan was a sculptor, who married the portrait, figure and flower painter Betty Maud Christian Smith.
Fagan was active in exhibiting between 1887 and 1935, showing his work in London at the Royal Academy, Royal Institute of Oil Painters and New Gallery, as well as at the Royal Society of Artists in Birmingham, Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts, Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool and Manchester City Art Gallery. He also exhibited with the International Society of Sculptors, Painters and Gravers, which made JW its President in 1898.
Fagan was amongst those proposed invitees to a dinner organised by W. C. Symons to congratulate JW on becoming an Honorary Member of the Royal Academy of Munich, a dinner which was to be held at the Criterion in Piccadilly on 1 May 1889 (#05636).
