ROYAL SCOTTISH ACADEMY.

EDINBURGH

17th June 1902

Dear Mr Guthrie,

I duly received your letter of 7th inst, but withheld replying until I had ascertained the gardener's charge for packing the three palms sent you last week.

A note of the total charge for the laurel and palms is herewith enclosed.

With regard to your letter of 12th[3] inst in reference to our distinguished Honorary Member - Mr Whistler [-] the President and Council are perfectly satisfied. For the purpose however of getting his Diploma prepared it would be well to have his official acceptance as soon as it may conveniently suit him,

With kind regards,
Believe me,
Yours faithfully

George Hay.

James Guthrie Esqr
R. S. A.

The letter is untraced. JW was recovering from serious illness, contracted during a trip to Holland. JW drafted a reply (#01876) but may not have sent it, and on 12 July, R. B.
