CRAIBE ANGUS & SON,
FINE ART GALLERIES,
159, QUEEN STREET, GLASGOW.
18th August 1887.
Our client has returned to town and has carefully gone over the Proofs you kindly sent for his inspection.
He asks us to write you about two of the impressions viz:-
Lambeth (Millbank) - In Wedmore's Catalogue the First State of this plate is described as having written on the foreground - "The Works of James Whistler, Etchings & Dry Points, are on view at E. Thomas', Publishers, 39 Old Bond Street, London" - This impression has no lettering at all - Is it the Second State of the plate.
The Guitar Player. This impression has curious whitish lines running across the plate from under the arms to the feet - Kindly say if these lines are on all the impressions -
When can you send me the "Jubilee" plates. We hope to sell several sets -
Our Senior has not yet returned but will be here beginning of the week -
Craibe Angus & Son.
