This relates to JW's libel suit against John Ruskin (1819-1900), critic, social reformer and artist [more], which took place at the Queen's Bench of the High Court on 25-26 November 1878.
4. Miracle of St Mark
One of Tintoretto's principal Venetian works, now known as Tintoretto, The Miracle of St Mark or The Miracle of the Slave (z78), dating from 1547-48. Commissioned by the Scuola Grande di San Marco, and initially rejected, it is a complex and dynamic composition that helped establish Tintoretto's reputation. It is now in the Galleria dell'Accademia, Venice.

Edward Coley Burne-Jones (1833-1898), painter and designer [more], and Arthur Severn (1842-1931), painter [more]. Burne-Jones appeared as a witness for Ruskin at the trial. Arthur Severn enlisted witnesses such as William Powell Frith (1819-1909), genre and landscape painter [more], on his behalf.
