Dear Sir -
After a long absence, I have found here, forwarded from England, your most courteous letter - informing me of this further great distinction so graciously conferred upon me by His Royal Highness the Prince Regent[4] of Bavaria -
The Jewel insignia of the third class of the Royal Order of Merit of St Michael has also reached me - and I have lost no time in obtaining, from London, the Order that of the fourth Class previously bestowed upon me - which I return to the Embassy as requested -
May I beg that Your Pray present my respectful compliments to His Excellency the German Ambassador[5] & beg hi my request that he will kindly convey to His Royal Highness, my high esteem sense of the rare recognition I receive at his hands, and say how greatly touched I am by[6] this continued expression of sympathy coming from a Court acknowledged as one of the great Art Centres of precious to me are these graceful honours that Bavaria - coming from Bavaria extended to me by Bavaria - and how precious to me is this continued sympathy coming from a Court acknowledged as one of the Great Art Centres of Europ[e]. -
