BACHELORS' CLUB,HAMILTON PLACE. W.
Dear Mrs Maxse -
Of course I shall be charmed - only I will not pretend that I do not thoroughly understand one great inducement for your visit tomorrow! - You know you want to see Lady Archie's portrait[3]! -
But I have promised not [p. 2] to show that until it is entirely completed - when if you like you shall have the first peep -
Still do come tomorrow - I can show you one of the Mrs Meux[4] - (the other has gone to Paris[5]) - and an etching or two -
Will you come at about 4.30 and let me give you a cup of tea?
Very sincerely Yrs
J McNeill Whistler
