Dear Sir /
Your Gold Medal[2] was Sold at Mesrs Johnson & Dymond's 39 Gracechurch St City E. C. on October the 6th 1879 for £7. 4. 0. If you will enquire there they may be able to tell you who bought it, and if not, I would advise you to advertise for it in the daily papers, as no doubt the present holder would be glad to let you have it at a small profit,
yours truly
TW pro E Somes

Notes:
1. Edwin Somes
Edwin Somes (b. ca 1807), of Somes and Charlton, and later Somes and Son, pawnbroker [more].
2. Gold Medal
Possibly the medal awarded for his etchings in [Exhibition], Amsterdam, 1863; it could well have been pawned by JW in the 1870s, in the period leading up to JW's bankruptcy on 7 May 1879 (see bankruptcy papers, #11711).
