You are a discontented man indeed O K! if you can complain of this perfect weather in this most lovely city! -
Come down then tomorrow at six - for perhaps I may even try to work a little in the afternoon - However six then - and [p. 2] then we will come back and dine - and I will think manage this time to stay up -
The next morning I will breakfast with you at the Salon - and the Champs de Mars if you so think well -
As to London I must go back there soon - though I hate the place -
The "Drouet"[4] I believe to be destroyed though at this moment cannot absolutely remember -
As to "Whistlers" - well they have not gone down - but they are getting scarce - and this long illness[5] or convalescence has interrupted -
"However" - we shall see - Since I saw you the other day several things have gone - and "the Philosopher" - the little Holloway[6] is carried off to London - to be placed -

4. Drouet
The sitter was Charles L. Drouet (1836-1908), sculptor and collector [more]. The portrait was Drouet (K.55). See Kennedy's note, #09769.

JW had recently been suffering from influenza.
