My dear Mr Kennedy -
I have just received this morning your letter of Jan 12th - in which you acknowledge my letter of Dec. 20!! What a devil of a time these letters take in getting themselves delivered over there! - Really the place seems to me to get further and further away -
You say that you want "another set of Luxembourg Gardens'.[2]
I shall send them today - We sent two sets on Saturday according to your last card[3] of Jan. 8th.

[p. 2] The seated figure[4] is three guineas and I could not of course alter price without harming those who have already bought their proofs -
Besides all these lithographs will soon be at a higher figure - as very many proofs cannot be taken - certainly of some of them -
[p. 3] I hope you are not under the impression that you have sent me any cheque! - because your letters are all so business like that they read as if you expected me to acknowledge something of the kind -
Have you heard that the "Little White Girl[5]" has just sold for I believe at least a thousand guineas? I shall know details and write.

I have two beautiful new sea pieces[6] in the Grafton Gallery [7]of the size of some of those you have seen in the Salon - 400 gs. each - I suppose you don't want to speculate! - Also smaller one[8] - panel - at 250 gs.

5. Little White Girl
Symphony in White, No. 2: The Little White Girl (YMSM 52) was sold to Arthur ('Peter') Haythorne Studd (1863-1919), painter and collector [more], for £1400 by 21 January 1894 (see JW to Studd, #02671).
6. sea pieces
Possibly Violet and Silver: A Deep Sea (YMSM 411) and Dark Blue and Silver (YMSM 412), which were painted in Brittany in August and September 1893, along with Violet and Blue: Among the Rollers (YMSM 413). All three paintings were exhibited at Fair Women, Grafton Galleries, London, 1894.
7. Gallery
'Gallery ... 250 gns' was written in the left margin of p. 3, at right angles to the main text, and over another scrap of paper with a fragment that reads: '[illegible] / letters / if you / just / I ... & thats it!!'.
