[Bavarian coat of arms and text:] KONIGLICHES KUPFERSTICHKABINET
Oct 9th 1901.
Allow me to convey to you my sincerest thanks for your very great kindness in having agreed, - as I am informed through Mr. Sauter, - to let the Royal Print Room under my charge come into possession of your eight etchings and the lithograph, at present exhibited in Dresden, for the sum of fifty pounds.
I am all the more grateful to you, since I know that the real value of the nine proofs is a much higher one. Acting upon a letter from Mr. Sauter written on the 6th inst., I have ordered the Treasurer of the International Exhibition, Dresden to send you to day the sum of fifty pounds in full and to put the customary 10% charges down to the account of the Print Room.
Believe me dear Sir
Your very obedient servant
Prof. Dr. Lehrs,
Director of the Royal Print Room.
J. McNeill Whistler Esqre.
