KING WILLIAM STREET,
STRAND, W.C.

Messrs. Dowdeswells[6] & Sons.
169. New Bond Street
London -

Translation:

I was away, my dear Stevens

and it is only now that I have read your charming reply - so, my friend, here is the arrangement - Send us, for the end of the month, four or five little paintings rather than three, and keep the two pastels for the month of May.

Here is my advice - The spring exhibition is the big event of the year - and we shall arrange all this together after your visit - because you will come for the private view - the 25 November - won't you? -

As for the rest - certainly we must have all your titles - because we are all proud of our celebrated colleague! - Add the prices - without doubt - that is perfectly understood - and as for the delivery, you must send the boxes to
Messrs. Dowdeswells & Sons.
169. New Bond Street
London -
but I fear that the costs of freight must be borne by you -

If I can find two days free I will come to see you in Paris - but I have so many things to arrange! and so little time -

And then, no Raffaelli!!! that is understood!

And now my very dear friend, with all best wishes to you,

Whistler

You know I have lots of things to say to you about Brussels where I have just been -
