FINE ART PUBLISHERS,

160, NEW BOND STREET,
LONDON, W.

April 27th, 1888

TELEPHONE NO. 3779.

Dear Whistler.

The two pictures came this morning - - Aren't they lovely?

Mr Chapman[2] told me in his letter yesterday, to return the pictures to him if we were not prepared to become personally responsible for them! - What a funny man he must be! I wrote & told him we took no responsibility at all. - & that we knew of nothing further that you or any one else could do to cove[r] him [p. 2] against loss or injury - than you had already done - I suppose you have written him that you will renew the policies if the pictures are detained beyond the dates specified in them?

The Munich picture ought to go to Dicksee's[3] at once[4] - or it will be too late - so let Kerly[5] bring it back with him, if you can -

Loose [sic] no time.

Yours [truly?]

Walter Dowdeswell
