Dear Rose -
Many thanks for all that [you] have done and are so kindly doing[4] for me - I shall only be too glad to see about what etchings[5] I may have for exhibition by Thursday next - Tomorrow though I can't have the pleasure of dining with you, as I am finishing The White Girl[6] for the Salon in Paris and it ought to go off on [p. 2] Monday - so that I should be painting at it until late in the evening - I would very much like you to see it before I send it - If you were by any chance in Rosetti's[7] neighborhood tomorrow morning and could drop in and have a peep -
Shall I send the Brittany Sea piece to the 'Artists & Amateurs'[8] or would it be too large?

20 March 1863 was a Friday, and on the following Monday, 23 March, JW wrote to Fantin-Latour that he was about to bring Symphony in White, No. I: The White Girl (YMSM 38) to Paris for the Salon (#11456).

6. The White Girl
Symphony in White, No. I: The White Girl (YMSM 38) was rejected at the Salon and exhibited at the Salon des Refusés in May.

8. Brittany Sea piece to the 'Artists & Amateurs'
Probably The Coast of Brittany (YMSM 37), which had been exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1862. In the end JW sent the even larger painting, Symphony in White, No. I: The White Girl (YMSM 38), to the Artists' and Amateurs' Conversazione, Willis's Rooms, London, 26 March 1863.
