Dear Mr. Burrell -
You will doubtless be asked, by the Director, to lend the "Princesse[2]" to the Exhibition about to open in St. Petersburg[3] -
Of course I should like it to be seen every where - for it [p. 2] is a great pet of mine - and
Only I think it right to tell you that I want you very much to lend it to Venice[4] at their next Exhibition in April -
If you can spare it for Russia as well as for Italy of course I shall be too delighted
But for Venice I rely upon you -
The St. Petersburg Exhibition will be, I believe, somewhere in January - and to last as I understand but for a month or so - and the Exhibition in Venice, is to open, I think, in April next -
Kindly let me have a line from you - and believe me -
with my best wishes for the New Year -
Very faithfully
J McNeill Whistler
