Possibly 8th Summer Exhibition, Grosvenor Gallery, London, 1884. Harmony in Grey and Green: Miss Cicely Alexander (YMSM 129), was shown at 102nd exhibition, Ouvrages de peinture, sculpture, architecture, gravure et lithographie des artistes vivants, Palais des Champs Elysées, Paris, 1884. Later it went to Nocturnes, Marines and Chevalet Pieces, Boussod, Valadon & Cie, Goupil Gallery, London, 1892, and was promised to World's Columbian Exposition, Department of Fine Arts, Chicago, 1893, but was not sent.
4. portrait of Miss Alexander
Harmony in Grey and Green: Miss Cicely Alexander (YMSM 129). The picture was most likely being returned to its owner William Cleverly Alexander (1840-1916), banker and patron [more] (who lived at Aubrey House) after the Grosvenor exhibition closed.

Possibly John W. Beck (fl. 1861-1895), landscape painter [more]. The note to Beck is missing.
