I find upon opening the case from abroad that instead of the picture of Lady Archibald Campbell[3], it contained the Sarasate[4]! - So we had better wait a day or two for the arrival of the first - and I will not expect the photographer tomorrow -

Arrangement in Black: La Dame au brodequin jaune - Portrait of Lady Archibald Campbell (YMSM 242) had been sent to Paris for the 103rd exhibition, Ouvrages de peinture, sculpture, architecture, gravure et lithographie des artistes vivants, Palais des Champs Elysées, Paris, 1885 (cat. no. 2459).
4. Sarasate
Although JW's portrait, Arrangement in Black: Portrait of Señor Pablo de Sarasate (YMSM 315), was not exhibited abroad in 1885, it was shown at the 62nd Annual Exhibition, Society of British Artists, London, 1885 (cat. no. 350) which ran from March to August 1885.
