Dear Mr. Thomson -

I have received your very interesting letter and the cheque £210 - for the Devonshire Cottages[3] - Blue & Silver -

I must be right about Bailie Cochrane[4]! He was my great Champion on the Council in the matter of the Carlyle[5] - Surely it couldn't have been another name?

[p. 2] Richards[6] - Wait a bit - I will send you word when to call - I want you to see the little panel[7] when it is varnished and properly in its frame -

I may let you have it for [a] small price - say 80. gns -

However we will see -

This must go now -

The little head[8] in The Gallery is a beauty! - I shall want a pretty cheque for that let me tell you - and "no Britisher need apply"! -

Go - and tell me how you like it -
