Royal Lion Hotel - Lyme Regis -
Dorset.
Dear Mr. Thomson -
Your yesterday's letter[4] with copy of authorization arrived this morning all right -
Many thanks - excellent -
As to Poster[5] - it all depends - I might perhaps like it - But at this moment have certainly no means of inspiration in this village! -
As to the Times' silence about the RA.'s [p. 2] and their awards at the Venice exhibition[6], I fancy, from the enclosed list, that the reason was of the simplest!
Has Walter Sickert[7] then gone on to Venice? Did he tell you anything about it? - In short do you know whether he is in town - and what his address would be? -
I am sorry about poor old Grau[8] - and did not at all know of his death - Of course nothing can be done with his successor - so thats all over -
I shall write again directly and send this in great haste -
Very sincerely -
J. McN. Whistler.
