33. Rue de Tournon - Paris -
Dear Sir -
I am sending you very fine proofs of the lithographs[4] you ask for -
Chapman[5] - You are quite right - the Goupils cannot of course be made responsible for the pictures after they have left their hands - But as I understand it the Bavarian Government through their representative will communicate with the owners or with you and will send for the pictures and become responsible - The two for Paris have I trust, by this, have arrived and gone straight on to the Champs de Mars[6] -
Potter[7]. Have you heard from him or of him? and do you know if he got the letter I forwarded through you? - Of course it is now too late to ask for anything more for Paris - That matter [p. 2] is concluded with the Peter Taylor[8] sea piece which I hope has been safely got off from Mr Richards[9] - But if he would lend anything for Münich, it would still be worth while - .
Catalogues - I have not myself a single copy of the Fifth Edition! Has Way[10] none left? - I should like to have half a dozen - but agree with you that no further edition should be in circulation - as Mr. Heinemann[11] will publish a new edition of the Gentle Art[12] with the Catalogue added -
Album - How is the lookout now? Subscribers - are there any? - Are you coming over here yourself? - I thought I understood so -
Yours truly
J. McN. Whistler
