Dear Sir -
First I wish to express to you again, though in greatest haste, how thoroughly pleased and highly satisfied I am with the manner of your management of this Exhibition! -
Your letters have all been capital - and we shall keep them as a delightful souvenir of what has been such a perfect episode - in the general Crusade against the Philistine!
Yesterday. Send all further details you can have since gathered -
Album[4]. Will try to run over quietly to see you shortly - say nothing of this -
Pictures. Have ticked off for destination - the Catalogue posted same time, always arrives later in day -
Potter[5]. I enclose letter for the young Mr. Potter with whom you have always communicated - Send some one to Brook's Club [p. 2] with it - and in short see that he gets it at once -
Huth[6] Do get the Symphony in White. III[7]. for the Champs de Mars -
Cyril Flower[8]. I want the Golden Screen[9] also very much -
Catalogues[10] - I trust there was no hitch - and that you got into the Fifth Edition - in any case that you did not run short - out of fear of having too many printed -
You know they will still go on selling a bit - for many will have been lost - and then there is America etc - -
This must go now - more tomorrow -
The whole affair has been splendid! - !! - We are all delighted with you! -

David Croal Thomson (1855-1930), art dealer [more]. He had organised JW's exhibition Nocturnes, Marines and Chevalet Pieces, Boussod, Valadon & Cie, Goupil Gallery, London, 1892.

'2B' and '2A' were written in red ink at the top left and '28' in pencil at bottom right of p.1, with '2A' repeated at the top and '28' in pencil at the bottom of the envelope, all in an unknown hand.

A select edition of photographs of works, mainly from the show, was planned (Whistler, James McNeill, The Whistler Album: Nocturnes, Marines, Chevalet Pieces, London, 1893).
