110. Rue du Bac. Paris.

Sunday. April 30.

Dear Sir -

Cheque - £21-10-6- Received all right - and many thanks -

Albums. Joyant[4] must send them over to me directly they arrive - and I will begin the signing at once - & let him have them back - so that's all right too!

Art Journal[5] - Very nice of you - [p. 2] Delighted to have it - It really has looked up immensely since you have taken it in hand - quite another thing. You deserve all compliments -

Carlyle[6] - I am sure it is very good of the Glasgow people to lend it at all! -

For my part I really wish it were quietly at rest in its own place on the wall of the Gallery of the Town Hall -

Chicago. Have you no news from Abbey[7] about anything further? -

Society of Portrait Painters Grafton Gallery -[8]
I am sending Sarasate[9] - Do you think of anything in the way of a selling reproduction? -

Also I am sending the little picture of "the Studio[10]" as a sketch "portrait" - So you might still do something with your man - or some new one -

Voila - for the present - I suppose when you think of coming over we shall hear of it -

Very Sincerely

J McN Whistler.
