I am woefully busy - getting ready for these exhibitions[4] of mine - but you know Dieu[5] propose, et la femme dispose! - So if you will bring the ladies here on Sunday afternoon at 4.30 - to 5. I shall be too pleased to see you - Did you not get my note? -
I told you that your letters had been [p. 2] forwarded here - to my new address -

The 63rd Annual Exhibition, Society of British Artists, London, 1886 had just opened in Suffolk Street. JW's solo exhibition, 'Notes' - 'Harmonies' - 'Nocturnes', Second Series, Messrs Dowdeswell, London, 1886 opened in May; the International Exhibition, Edinburgh, 1886 on 6 May; and the Jubilee Art Exhibition, Academy of Arts, Berlin, 1886, on 15 May. JW's works at Dowdeswell's included Blue and Grey: Dieppe (YMSM 331), and Grey and Brown: The Sad Sea Shore (YMSM 330).
