Dear Jack -
I have I think just the picture for you - a hundred pounder - Shall I send it? - It is very much liked - A very warm summer night on the Thames - lovely in color they say - A Nocturne in blue and gold - view of the river from the Houses of Parliament [3]-
I wish you would thank Shields[4] for me for so kindly sending me the blue plates [5]I have [p. 2] safely received -
You had better telegraph in answer - so that it would be in time to send down tomorrow night.

Chapman bought several works by JW between 1874 and 1878 (Nocturne: Blue and Silver - Bognor (YMSM 100), Nocturne: Blue and Gold - Southampton Water (YMSM 117), Nocturne: Battersea (YMSM 120), Blue and Gold: Channel (YMSM 159), Nocturne: Battersea Reach (YMSM 160), Cremorne (YMSM 168), Nocturne: Grey and Gold - Chelsea Snow (YMSM 174)). However, this letter probably predates the first exhibition of Nocturne: Grey and Gold - Westminster Bridge (YMSM 145) (see below).

Probably blue and white chinese porcelain, which JW collected enthusiastically.
