Dear Mrs Edwards -
You will I know be pleased to hear that I have Fantin's picture, representing a sort of triumphal march (left with me years ago,) safe and sound - I believe he gave it to me - but in any case he has often asked for it since - and will be charmed to have it again - though I shall be sorry to part [p. 2] with it - It shall be carried to you on Monday next -
With kindest regards and best wishes for the New Year

4. Fantin's picture,
H. Fantin-Latour, La Féerie (FL.214) (1863), Montreal, Musée des Beaux-Arts, was one of two of Fantin's works rejected by the Salon and exhibited at the Salon des Refusés in 1863. The picture seems to have been in JW's possession from about this time.
