My dear Baronne -
I wonder if may trouble you to discover for me whether the room at the Champ de Mars in which Tissot[3] first had his exhibition - and in which again last year Abbey[4] had his works, is still to be obtained for April? -
My distinguished friend Mr Pennell[5] has a hundred drawings at least 100 large drawings of the Cathedrals of France[6], which we are of opinion should be hung together in that room where they would mak[e] a charming brilliant show - - and
Forgive my troubling you - but you are always so charming & kind that I venture to presume upon your time and courtesy - It would please me greatly that Pennell should show have his drawings properly shown in this way in the country in which they were executed & where[7] they will meet with the appreciation of his confrères[8] -

Jacques ('James') Joseph Tissot (1836-1902), painter and etcher [more]. In 1894 Tissot exhibited 270 drawings for the Life of Christ at the 3rd Exhibition, Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts, Paris, 1893.
4. Abbey
Edwin Austin Abbey (1852-1911), painter and illustrator [more]. In 1896 he showed 132 illustrations of Shakespeare's comedies at the 6th Exhibition, Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts, Paris, 1896 (see Fink, Lois Marie, American Art at the Nineteenth Century Paris Salons, Washington, DC, and Cambridge, UK, 1990, p. 252).

6. drawings of the Cathedrals of France
Joseph Pennell's drawings of cathedrals were started in 1890 and continued every summer for years. Four articles illustrated by Pennell were published in the Century Magazine, the last in September 1899. A further tour in 1905 resulted in further articles, and eventually a book: Pennell, E. R., French cathedrals, monasteries and abbeys, and sacred sites of France. Illustrated with one hundred and eighty-three pictures by Joseph Pennell, also with plans and diagrams, New York, 1909.
