In regard to the painting "L'andalousienne[2]" we beg to say that the Copyright remains with you, and that we shall sell it subject to your demand for it to be exhibited at your forthcoming exhibition[3] in London.

It must be understood that whoever may purchase the full length painting "L'andalousienne", shall loan it to a forthcoming exhibition of my works to be held in London; the painting, of course, to be returned in as good condition as it arrives, and to be insured while in London and en route.

3.  forthcoming exhibition
No one-man exhibition of JW's works took place at this time. One may have been envisaged in association with the International Society of Sculptors, Painters and Gravers, of which JW was President. The Andalusian was next exhibited at 71st Annual Exhibition, Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia, 1902.
